‘Guitar Dream’ (2019) – Artist Statement

I became serious about playing guitar in my teenage years. Since then, I’ve had this recurring dream: I am in a room surrounded by my own stable of guitars; I proceed to choose one, play, put it back, then pick another one and play, then put it back, and so on. As a teenager, I truly believed that I could make a living just playing guitar!

As I became an adult, and entered the real world of needing a job, I let my guitar playing fade away, and, over the last 30+ years, I have focused on my career as a sound engineer. But the dream would not let go. It kept showing up in my sleep over and over and over again. It was always a wonderful dream, and every time I’d wake up and realize it was only a dream, I would feel nostalgic and just a bit sad.

Happily, the dream won me over. In 2016, on a whim, I built my first guitar and have never stopped since. I started with a guitar built out of a kit, and a few months into it I had already built my first guitar from scratch, truly becoming a luthier. I began playing again, and then I started writing my own songs and recording those as well.

One morning, upon waking up, I looked around at the stable of guitars that surrounded me, and realized that I am now living my Guitar Dream!

The title cut from this album is an homage to my Guitar Dream, and was recorded using all my custom-built guitars in my stable.

‘Believe’ (2024) – Artist Statement

This is the long-awaited follow up album to my first album, ‘Guitar Dream’ (2019). ‘Believe’ feels like growth in my songwriting and playing, and in my producing and mixing.

Where my first album was about a dream that took me over 30 years to manifest, this album reinforces the notion that if you do, indeed, believe, dreams do come true.

This album’s message is that hope always lives on, regardless of time and space. It has provided an opportunity for me to create on a more complex level, exploring more intricate nuances in composition and production. The mix of songs also have a deeper tone to them, conveying the heavier side of my playing and the ebbs and flows of hope related to the creative process.

For me, ‘Believe’ represents the next level of my musical journey, and an opportunity to engage with listeners on a level that may resonate with them, where they identify a progression in a path that provides for opportunities to explore and grow.
