For as long as he can remember, Chris D. Holland has been building stuff. As a child, he would tinker in the background as his dad worked on woodworking projects, such as small furniture and cabinets. At age 10, Chris and his dad proudly built a soapbox derby car, a project that would give Chris his first taste in combining mechanics with carpentry. Chris continued to build and repair items around his childhood home whenever he had a chance.
Chris’ passion for building continued when, as a young adult, he started his sound engineering career. From building PA speaker cabinets to road cases, and everything in between, he honed his skills not just as a builder, but also as someone who could find creative solutions to equipment and artifacts that needed upgrading, repairing or rebuilding.
At home and during his downtime, Chris continued to sharpen his craftsmanship and attention to detail abilities by building mountain bikes from the frame up – including custom-built wheels. Some of his DIY projects at home have included building high-end cabinets and a custom sound booth.
In 2016, Chris came full circle with his teenage passion of playing guitar (see Music Album tab). As life has it, this desire was compounded by his need to have an instrument to take on the road to practice. It is here where Chris’ longtime building experience and craftsmanship paid off when he jumped into building his first custom guitar. Within a year, he had become a luthier and boasted a stable of 6 custom-built guitars.
CDH Custom Guitars are fully handmade and can be built to each client’s needs and specs.
